In the Navy

My darling little sister has joined the navy! She's always been a homebody so it surprised us all, but she is (not surprisingly) doing wonderful.  Boot camp was hard for Dad, hard for Mom, hard for me because we're used to talking to her all time.

It was even hard for her facebook friends because they're used to laughing at her incredibly sarcastic and hilarious wall posts. I can't even imagine what it was like for Angie: no freedom, no family, only letters pouring in letting her know we missed her and were ready for the 9 weeks to be done!  Her boot camp graduation was an awesome event, and our whole weekend with her was a great time catching up!

Mom found this picture on facebook of Angie marching while she was still at bootcamp. We have decided Mom should now write a book about the Navy, because she knows more than Angie!

We got to take a shuttle from the hotel to graduation, so we didn't have to worry about finding it or parking. We found out later that it really wasn't that hard, and could have been there alot earlier if we had just driven...oh well. She was only supposed to have 4 guests but they let us all in, no problem!

Our good little flag holder-proudly carrying the Arizona flag!  She was part of the performance division. I thought it was because she was an extremely good marcher. She said it was because she was short.  It was very entertaining to me because we were both in marching band in high school and looked down on the flag girls.

Her second time seeing Mom, right after graduation, was not as emotional as the first. We actually got to hug her right before graduation but we were so surprised to run into her I didn't have my camera ready and we don't have any pictures! Shocker.  I missed the best photo op, but we have about 300 pictures from the rest of the weekend! Ha.
Today is her birthday~we've been texting all day but it isn't the same. So, happy birthday Sailor Angie!
